Print and Apply Systems

Print and Apply Systems

tekv provides print and apply labeling systems for a variety of applications. Systems range from a few packages per minute using a single machine, all the way thru multiple machines to accomplish 40+ packages per minute. Applications include

  • End of line shipping using a carrier label such as UPS, Fedex, USPS, etc.
  • Compliance labeling, such as UCC128 and other “big box” retailer formats and requirements.
  • Dynamic label printing for a variety of needs such as serialization, product labeling, and RFID labels.

When to Consider Print and Apply

We work with many types of customers who want to understand the best time to consider a print and apply system. Although the simple answer “it really depends” is an easy out, the information below will demonstrate a couple of examples that may help answer this question.

In general, here are some parameters that present good fits for print and apply with a fast ROI:

  • Shipping or receiving line that has labeling of 500 or more boxes per day
  • Manual shipping lines that separate by carrier due to using carrier software instead of a multi-carrier approach
  • Compliance labeling where full cases need to be labeled for big box retail compliance such as Walmart, Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and many others

What Does a System Look Like?

Typical systems include fixed barcode scanners to identify a particular parcel or shipping ID, a print/apply machine, conveyor for induction, labeling, and offload, a verification scanner to read the printed label, software to merge data, and communicate with the host system, and shipping software as required.
